Liopetri

liopetri map

Liopetri is known for its golden beaches shelving gently into the Mediterranean. A much-loved retreat for both locals and visitors, the town has been alluring admirers from all over the world with its island flair and rich natural beauty.
Just a step away from some of the finest beaches in Cyprus, but at the same time far away from the noise of the area’s nightlife. Liopetri covers 10 miles of coastline that has sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It is just a 3 min drive from the beach and a 30 min drive from Larnaca International Airport.

Potamus Beach

This is very quiet and you will be able to laze away the day reading your book or perhaps painting the scenery. Our dad spends hours with his paints and easel and has some amazing paintings of the scenery of Potamus.  There is a small community of fishing boats which is very picturesque with a nice restaurant overlooking the sea. Why not have a glass of wine or beer whilst watching the sun set. Absolutely gorgeous!

Travel

Airport service is available, payable locally. Direct flights are available from various UK airports. Larnaca airport is the nearest at approx 25 mins by car. Paphos airport is approx.2 hours by car along the main road. Car hire is not essential but to enjoy Cyprus to the full, we recommend one. Car hire and petrol are not too expensive and the Cypriots drive on the same side as the British, the roads are good with clear signs in English and Greek (hard to get lost really!).

Further details

Liopetri has most shops, tavernas and bars. The local fruit and vegetable market is held on Saturdays and Sundays. The larger supermarkets are found in Paralimni alongside the smaller shops. Explore the nearby small village of the traditional village of Sotira which has two of the oldest churches and Vrysoulles.
There is the charming village of Deryneia nearby, well worth a visit. It has beautiful churches of historic and architectural interest. There is Frenaros village, a few mins drive, lush with orange and olive groves. This lovely village has some great tavernas and small Byzantine churches.
Or head for Ayia Napa and find some of the great little tavernas, have a drink at the harbour or try the fish restaurants. Take a boat trip around the bay or try your hand at fishing. Explore the old monastery in the square at Aiya Napa and the local museums. Aiya Napa has some great lively bars and nightclubs. Ayia Napa used to be a traditional fishing village-you still see many boats with their catch and wonderful fresh fish restaurants. You also now find, next to the fishing boats, submarines and tour boats.
Further along there are coastal walking paths, Cape Greco has a large national park. The views are amazing-great spot for birdwatchers-there are many visiting species flying in.
Down the road on the Cape Greko, you can visit the wonderful sea caves.
Drive up to the Troodos Mountains for some spectacular views. The mountain villages offer some great views.
Protaras has some long white sandy beaches, in addition it has a great choice of bars and restaurants-the Magic Dancing Waters show in Protaras is worth watching. Protaras is very family orientated with films, karaoke, cocktail bars and live entertainment.
